Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of wheelie bin cleaning services provided by Atom Bin Cleaning. By registering for our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About Us

Atom Bin Cleaning (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides professional wheelie bin cleaning services to domestic households and small businesses in Reading, Berkshire, and surrounding areas.

2. The Service

2.1 What We Do

We clean wheelie bins (general waste, recycling, garden waste, and food waste caddies) at your property on a scheduled basis. Our service includes:

  • Cleaning the interior and exterior of your bins
  • Sanitising to remove bacteria and odours
  • Returning bins to your property the same day

2.2 Service Frequency

Bins are cleaned every four weeks, on the same day as your council collection (after your bin has been emptied by the council).

2.3 Service Plans

We offer the following subscription plans:

  • 3-month plan – three cleans over a three-month period
  • 6-month plan – six cleans over a six-month period
  • 12-month plan – thirteen cleans over a twelve-month period (discounted rate)

Each bin type (general waste, recycling, garden waste, food caddy) is charged separately.

3. Registration and Acceptance

3.1 Registration Process

To register for our service, you must:

  • Complete our online registration form
  • Provide accurate property and contact details
  • Select which bins you’d like cleaned
  • Choose your service plan

3.2 Acceptance

A contract between you and Atom Bin Cleaning is formed when:

  • We confirm your registration via email, and
  • You complete payment setup

We reserve the right to refuse service if your property is outside our service area.

3.3 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to register for our service. By registering, you confirm that you are the homeowner or have authority from the homeowner to arrange the service.

4. Pricing and Payment

4.1 Pricing

Our current pricing is:

  • 3-month and 6-month plans: £6.00 per bin, per clean
  • 12-month plan: £5.00 per bin, per clean

Prices are confirmed at the time of registration and will not change during your plan period.

4.2 Payment Terms

Payment is taken in advance for the full plan period via direct debit or card payment. We use Stripe as our payment processor.

4.3 Failed Payments

If a payment fails, we will attempt to contact you and retry the payment. If payment cannot be collected after three attempts, we reserve the right to suspend or cancel your service.

4.4 Price Changes

We may adjust our prices for future plans. Any price changes will be communicated at least 30 days before your renewal date. Price changes do not affect your current plan.

5. Access and Property Conditions

5.1 Access to Bins

You must ensure:

  • Bins are accessible on your scheduled cleaning day
  • Bins are placed outside your property (not locked in a garage or shed)
  • There are no obstructions preventing our equipment from reaching the bins
  • Gates or access routes are unlocked (if applicable)

5.2 Missed Cleans

If we are unable to clean your bin due to:

  • Bins not being accessible
  • Bins still containing waste
  • Obstructions or locked access

The clean will be marked as completed and no refund or replacement clean will be provided. It is your responsibility to ensure bins are ready for cleaning.

5.3 Council Collection Changes

If your council changes your collection day, you must notify us at least 7 days in advance so we can update your schedule. Failure to notify us may result in missed cleans (see section 5.2).

6. Cancellation and Refunds

6.1 Cancellation by You

You may cancel your service at any time by emailing us at hello@atombincleaning.com.

Refund policy:

  • If you cancel before your first clean, you will receive a full refund
  • If you cancel after your first clean, refunds are calculated on a pro-rata basis for unused cleans
  • No refunds are provided for missed cleans due to access issues (see section 5.2)

6.2 Cancellation by Us

We may cancel or suspend your service if:

  • Payment cannot be collected after multiple attempts
  • You breach these Terms
  • We are unable to deliver the service due to circumstances beyond our control

In such cases, you will be refunded for any unused cleans on a pro-rata basis.

6.3 Plan Renewal

Plans do not auto-renew. At the end of your plan, we will contact you to arrange renewal if you wish to continue the service.

7. Our Responsibilities

7.1 Service Standard

We will:

  • Clean your bins to a professional standard using appropriate equipment and cleaning agents
  • Return bins to your property on the same day as cleaning
  • Notify you if we are unable to complete a scheduled clean due to unforeseen circumstances

7.2 Damage and Loss

We take care when handling your bins, but we are not responsible for:

  • Pre-existing damage to bins
  • Damage caused by normal wear and tear
  • Bins that are already cracked, split, or in poor condition

If we damage your bin during cleaning and you can demonstrate the damage was caused by us, we will repair or replace it where reasonable to do so.

7.3 Weather Conditions

In extreme weather (e.g., heavy snow, flooding, storms), we may reschedule cleans for safety reasons. Rescheduled cleans will be completed as soon as reasonably possible.

8. Your Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate contact and address details
  • Ensure bins are accessible on scheduled cleaning days
  • Notify us of any changes to your collection day or service requirements
  • Ensure bins are emptied by the council before our cleaning visit
  • Pay for the service on time

Important: You must not place hazardous, dangerous, or prohibited materials in your bins (e.g., chemicals, asbestos, sharps, hot ashes). We are not responsible for any harm or damage caused by such materials.

9. Liability

9.1 Our Liability to You

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law

9.2 Limitations

Subject to section 9.1, our total liability to you for any loss or damage is limited to the total amount you have paid for the current plan period.

We are not liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential losses
  • Loss of profit, income, or business
  • Damage caused by your failure to follow these Terms

10. Data Protection

We collect and process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

By using our service, you consent to our collection and use of your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be published on our website, and the “Last updated” date will be revised.

If changes materially affect your rights, we will notify you by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Complaints and Disputes

12.1 How to Complain

If you are unhappy with our service, please contact us at hello@atombincleaning.com. We will investigate and respond within 7 working days.

12.2 Dispute Resolution

If we cannot resolve a complaint informally, you may refer the matter to an independent dispute resolution service. We will provide details upon request.

12.3 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. General

13.1 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Atom Bin Cleaning.

13.2 No Waiver

If we fail to enforce any part of these Terms, it does not mean we waive our right to enforce it later.

13.3 Severability

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force.

13.4 Assignment

You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms to another person. We may transfer our rights or obligations to another company, and will notify you if this happens.
